Mike Long and Keith Williams Jig their way to the TOP!

During the past several days leading up to the fifth Joe Bass Team Trail Mark Twain Division Tournament, the Corps had been pulling a lot of water through Clarence Cannon Dam ( dropping the lake as much as 1 foot per day), keeping the main lake point bite strong. Well as luck would have it, the pull was reduced to a trickle Saturday morning as teams took to the water in search of a 5 fish limit of Mark Twain Lake Bass. Some promising patterns went out the window, but as usual somebody always finds the winning fish!
“Fishing from one end of the lake to the other and catching a last minute kicker”, the 154 Marine sponsored team of Mike Long and Keith Williams Soaked jigs in 4 to15 feet of water to put together a 5 fish limit that tipped the scales at 14.16lbs. Giving the team their first win with Joe Bass Team Trail, Congratulations Guys!
Coming in a close second was the team of Kenny Grothoff and Ray Skinner. This duo Carolina rigged Brush Hogs and worms on every point they could get to, assembling a 5 fish limit weighing 13.52lbs. Included in their bag was the days second Big Bass that weighed in at a nice 4.23lbs.
Flying solo today and coming in third with 3 fish that weighed 7.45lbs was Donnie Palmatory. The Cairo Mo. angler found success fishing soft plastics in the Mid Lake area.

“If you’re only going to bring one fish to the scales, you hope it’s like this one!” That is what the team of Richard Beckham and Jason Sportsman had to say about their one fish that weighed in at 5.61lbs. Making it the Dennis Hanks Chevrolet Big Joe Bass! The chubby unit fell prey to a black and blue Brush Hog flipped to a stump up in the North Fork Arm.
