Conditions Improve, as does the bite, for Joe Bass Anglers at Mark Twain Lake! As does the weather in Missouri, so does the bite at Mark Twain Lake. It changes, and today, gladly for the better. Just 3 weeks ago, we had a team win with just 1 fish!!! Man what a few weeks can do for the fishing. And not just Bass, there were many reports of quality crappie and walleye being caught while our teams pursued the "green" fish.
Working the mid lake area with jigs and spinnerbaits, the 154 Marine sponsored team of Charlie Kunkle and Mack Tucker reported catching seven keepers throughout the day amassing a 5 fish limit that tipped the scales at 16.62 lbs. to claim 1st Place. Included in their bag was the Dennis Hanks Chevrolet BIG JOE BASS, a 6.05 lber.
Coming in a close second, with 16.11 lbs. was the team of Keith Hendrix and Guy White. Keith and Guy took advantage of a shallow bite, using spinnerbaits and a jig tipped with a Zoom Speed Craw. Keith and Guy are sponsored by, HPW lures, JC Auto and Truck Parts, Aquatech Marine, Indian Creek Marina, and GOD (aren't we all).
Rounding out the top three with 15.10 lbs. was the Star Flash Skirts sponsored team of Terry Kayser and DuWayne Azotea. Terry and DuWayne also worked a shallow bite, but their primary bait of choice was a Senko type lure. The team also had the day's second big bass, a 5.09 lber.
