8.27 lb BIG JOE BASS
Charles Eager & Don Powell weigh in just 3 bass for the win.

Colder than expected temperatures didn't deter 40 teams from competing at the Angler's Port Marine Truman Division, JOE BASS  season kick off. Only one team managed a five bass limit, but at this event quality out performed quantity.
 


Don Powell & Charles Eager
 

 Charles Eager, Alma MO and  Don Powell, Clinton MO found fishing to their liking in the lower Grand arm of Truman lake. Both report fishing Pointer jerkbaits at depths of 20-25 feet and catching their bass on near back to back casts. Don was quick to brag on Charles stating that Charles had caught all three of their keepers. Included in their 17.15 lb stringer was 1st Place Big JOE BASS a 8.27 lb beauty. Charles reports the fish put up a really good fight.


James McCutchen &  Lowell Waseher
 

 James McCutchen, Lee Summit MO and  Lowell Waseher, Warsaw MO weight in four bass weighing 15.99 lbs for second place. James reports running up the Tebo and fishing secondary points in just one cove all day at depths of 4-5 feet with Lucky Craft stickbaits.

Junior Shinn & Mike Rowland

 Mike Rowland, Bonner Springs MO and Junior Shinn, Quincy MO also weigh in four keeper bass weighing 15.54 lbs. Junior reports that it was noon before they found a little stretch of bank in the lower Grand that held their fish. "We made a pass or two and worked it back and forth." said Junior. Mike adds, shad colored rouges worked for them in the 39 degree water.
