Weaver and Drysdale take Ozark season finale!
Team Weider take second
Team Hulsey finish third
Weiberg and Kleffner win points championship via tie-braker!
Rain, rain go away! That was the thought on everyone’s mind as mother nature dumped several inches of rain, raising Lake of the Ozarks well past the 660 mark, even with Ameren opening up all flood gates the lake was still on the rise throughout the day. This added a new twist to the puzzle of finding the right 5 bites to put a team in the check line.
Taking advantage of the influx of fresh water, the team of Terry Weaver and Doug Drysdale put the pieces of the puzzle together and snatched the top spot. Terry and Doug reported fishing a large creek in the Hurricane Deck area all day, fishing the very backs of the feeder creeks that had running water, (I’m sure they all had running water!) pitching jigs and shakeyhead worms to any visible targets, boating over 40 keepers on the day. The teams best 5 pushed the scales down to 21.32 pounds! Included in their bag was the Ozark Chevrolet Big Joe Bass weighing 7.06 pounds! The Sports Boat USA key to Success was staying put in their area and catching their big fish on their last cast of the day. Terry and Doug are Sponsored by 154 Marine, Skeeter Boats, Ardent and Pirate’s Cove.
Taking the Second spot today was the Team of Aaron and Chris Weider. AAaron and Chris pointed their Charger boat down lake at take-off, running to the Shawnee bend area, knowing there were a lot of post-spawn fish ready to feed up, the heavy generation would move fish out to the main lake points. The team caught fish on just about anything in the boat, but the better bites came on Texas rigged 10” Power Worms and a wacky rigged Senko. The team culled through 20 keepers on an all day bite, with their best 5 weighing 20.46 pounds.
Taking the number 3 spot was the team of Jay and Kyle Hulsey. Talk about throwing the tackle box at them, Jay and Kyle Started fishing main lake structure with 3/4oz jigs 10” worms and Spoons, after catching 8 keepers, the team started running pockets from the 4 mile maker up to about the 24, fishing spinnerbaits, shakeyhead worms, brush hogs and jigs with crock o gator trailers. The father son team culled through another 12 keepers, with their best 5 coming in at 18.68 pounds. Jay and Kyle are sponsored by Mercury, Tracker Marine, Nitro, Bass Pro, Crock O Gator, Jewel Baits, War Eagle and Oakley Fishing.
Winning the Division points championship via tie-breaker was the team of Joe Weiberg and Walon Kleffner! Joe and Walon finished in 3rd place an astonishing 4 straight tournaments and tied with Chad Deaver and Dirk Sluyter with 535 points but their big fish at 6.58 pounds broke the tie! Joe and Walon will be boat #1 next season and have their entry paid for the Joe Bass Invitational at Table Rock Lake in October.
