Smithville Lake had the Pre fall blues. The 5th stop of the Joe Bass team trail on Smithville Lake sponsored by Burtons Bait and Tackle turned out to be a beautiful day. The teams showed up at the ramp and were greeted with 55 degree weather with light winds, as the day progressed the weather turned to the warmer side by getting into the low 80s.
Coming in at the Top spot for the day is the Team of Dene White and Joe Dorcy with a total weight of 15.48lbs. Joe stated the team fished the morning looking in the shallow waters as they started in fast by catching 2 fish early with a top water bait then a 3rd by 8am. Most of the teams fish came in 5 foot or less of water and the keepers were on rock or wood. Joe and Dene used Top water baits as well Brush hogs and Jigs, Joe and Dene would like to thank their sponsors. Shoreline Fiberglass.
In 2nd Place today is the team of Jeff Bottorff and Justin Bottorff. This team brought in 15.00lbs of Smithville largemouth bass. Jeff stated that they had a pretty tough day as the 5 fish they brought in were the only 5 keeper bites they had. Jeff also said all of the teams fish came out of 2 to 15 foot of water on the main lake and camp branch arms fishing worms most of the day.
Rounding out our top 3 is the Team of Kyle Alsop and Lane Maldonaldo with a total weight of 14.48lbs. Kyle stated they moved around all day long targeting shallow wood with 77 degree water temps. Kyle also stated they didn’t have a keeper in the boat until 10am but by weigh in they had 8 keepers to get the teams total. Our NAPA big bass of the day went to BIG Fish Joe Dorcy and Dene White with a 5.04 largemouth for the 2nd tournament in a row to get this honor, Joe Stated they caught this giant on a top water bait around 8am on the main lake.
The Top Skeeter for the event went to Justin Bottorff, Justin Has been no stranger to the Top skeeter award and today proved why it always pays to run a skeeter
We have our last chance tournament coming up on September 17th from 7am to 3pm on Stockton Lake.
