01/06/24 Bull Shoals

Following a snowstorm that raced through the area the day prior to the event, 29 teams rendezvoused at Buck Creek Marina for the third event of the Joe Bass Team Trail Bull Shoals division.  Cloudy weather settled in for the day with brisk winds presenting an additional obstacle for those choosing to “scope” their fish.  By contrast, those rigging and cranking welcomed the chop as all sought daily bragging rights that would put their names at the top of the Window World Leaderboard while accruing valuable qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held next fall.

Returning to form, Team Blevins topped the field with a staggering 20.83 pound limit.  Dustin shared their Mid America RV Key to Success was working Damiki rigs around shad schools.  Eric added they had to move around as the shad schools were tough to stay on in the windy areas, particularly bluff end points.  Their five fish limit was anchored by the NAPA big bass, a stout 4.81 pound largemouth

Landon Edwards and Cody Ellison teamed up to take the runner up spot with a stringer weighing 20.07 pounds.  They covered water with a spinnerbait and Rock Crawler.  They also focused on bluff end points, specifically the transition from the steeper portion of the bluff to chunk rock.  They added to their take home dollars by taking Top Skeeter honors as they fished from Landon’s 2012 ZX21 Skeeter.

Wyatt Marler followed up his December win with another top three finish.  Wyatt paired with Cody Huff to boat a limit for 18.48 pounds. Both reported a tough day as their better scope spots were tough to fish with the wind.  They made the switch to umbrella rigs which didn’t produce a lot of bites but provided the right quality.

The fourth event of the Bull Shoals Division will take place January 20th with a 7:00am takeoff from Buck Creek Marina.
