02/04/24 Oazrks

After a brutal streak of frigid weather, warm sunny conditions bathed the lake in the days leading up to the third event of the Lake of the Ozarks division. However, a rainy cold front moved through over the weekend as teams launched with hopes of putting their names at the top of the Window World  Leaderboard and staking claim to valuable qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held next fall.

Joseph Provart teamed with Wesley Brake to take top honors for the day. Their 5-fish limit pushed the scales to 18.21 pounds, topped off with the 2nd big bass of the day, a lunker 5.28 pound largemouth. Jospeh and Wesley noted that their Window World Leaderboard approach was slinging A-rigs around brush in the 15’ depth range. They added they boated six keepers on the day with their final weight in the boat by 10:00 am.

Eric Dearduff and Steve Varner wrapped up a solid second place finish on the back of a 17.50 pound limit. They explained they had to stay on the move as they found their fish scattered on a variety of banks. Using jerkbaits, Eric and Steve boated 15 keepers on an all-day bite.

The veteran team of Todd and Matt Miller fished their strength to round at the top three with a 15.20 pound limit. Leaning on jerkbaits, Todd and Matt added an A-rig in for a few of their 8 keepers. Matt said they had their limit by 9:30, went on a bit of dry streak, and culled a few times after 1:00 pm.

Kason Henderson and Joe Daugherty anchored their 4th place weight of 15.19 pounds with the NAPA big bass of the day, a kicker 5.67 pounder that bit a jerkbait worked around a school of white bass.

Cody Campbell and Quinten Carr took Top Skeeter honors with a 10.39 pound limit. They fished umbrella rigs from their 2021 ZXR21 Skeeter boat.

The fourth event of the Lake of the Ozarks Division will take place Sunday February 18 with a 7:00am takeoff from beautiful Alhonna Resort.
