What could be more fitting for a wrap up to a season of extreme winter weather that caused multiple cancellations than to launch under freezing temps only to weigh in with clear skies and pleasant temperatures. A midweek cold front consisting of rain and snow, along with unseasonably cold temps, stifled the rebound in fishing for the 16 teams that gathered at Alhonna Resort had been hoping for. However, the tough fishing conditions also served to suppress a slugfest, meaning the opportunity to find one’s name atop the Window World leaderboard hinged on every bite, along with the last chance to compile qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational this fall.
Local ace Roger Fitzpatrick teamed with his son Chase to take the top spot on another tough day. Roger explained their Window World key to success, was abandoning the deeper fish they had been on as they failed to relocate them. Noting they had to move around a bit, they eventually settled on a stretch of stained water with an A-rig and stickbait to catch four fish for a total of 9.57 pounds from 6’-8’ deep. Roger also landed the Top Skeeter award as they fished from his new 2025 FXR21 Pro purchased from Blackbeard Marine.
Dallas Stamper and Jason Hollandsworth wrapped up a stellar season with a second place finish. They dropped four bass on the scales that locked in at 8.24 pounds. Dallas and Jason shared they threw everything at ‘em, as they caught fish on a rig, a jerkbait and jig. Their bites came before noon and were scattered between 5’ and 18’ deep. The second place finish secured the coveted Division Points championship for the team. Congradulations!
Joe Bass Team Trail Pro Staff Mark Thompson teamed up with Joe Bass Team Trail Director Rusty Darnell to land the final podium spot. Managing only two fish, Rusty’s second big bass that weighed 5.23 pounds helped give them a total of 7.69 pounds. They hunkered down on a pair of channel swing banks and slung a-rigs to catch their fish.
Chad Wagner and Kevin Altman took big bass honors with a stout 5.78 pound LoZ lunker. The Impel Union big bass bit an Excalibur stickbait in the sexy shad color in the stained water in the upper Grand Glaize arm.
Special thanks to Window World for supporting another great winter division season, along with Alhonna Resort for hosting the series!
