27 teams braved the elements and showed up for the 5th Bassing Bob division Lake of the Ozarks tournament. Recent rains had either stained or muddied the majority of the 54,000 acre reservoir making many areas impossible to fish but the coloring of the water helped rise water temperatures into the mid to upper 40s giving fishing options to the anglers as there were reports of fish being caught on jigs and crankbaits along with the A rig and jerkbaits.
Taking the top spot today was the team of Scott and Scott Danek. The Nitro, Mercury Motorguide sponsored team ran to the Shawnee bend area of the lake (7to 10mm)fishing a variety of Baits including A-rig, jerkbaits, and Spinnerbaits. The team had 3 keepers early then had a long fishless stretch, but the bite picked up in the early afternoon and Scott and Scott boated 3 more keepers with their best 5 weighing 17.83 pounds.
Soloing his way to second was Deno Ek. Deno stayed in the dirty water of the Glaze arm fishing a white jerkbait. Deno said the fish were very tight to the bank so he paralleled the bank keeping his bait in 1 to 4 ft of water. Deno had 7 keepers on the day with his best 5 weighing 16.89 pounds. Deno was also the Highest finishing Skeeter owner fishing out of his 2008 20 Iclass. Deno is sponsored my 154 Marine.
Taking the third spot today was the team of Chris Embry and Casey McTaggert. The A-rig was the lure of choice for the EMB2 Construction, Dupo Marine sponsored team catching 6 keepers on the day from the toll bridge to the Gravois arm of the lake. Included in their 16.63 pound bag was the Ozark Chevrolet Big Joe Bass weighing 6.99 pounds!
