04/06/25 Stockton

After a week of storms and heavy rain, 20 teams launched from Orleans Trail Resort & Marina for the kickoff derby of the Albers Marine Stockton Division under decent weather conditions.  Hopes were high as each team looked to find their names atop the Window World  Leaderboard.   With visions of a monster stringer in the minds of all, tough fishing means that every fish counts for valuable qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held next fall on Truman Lake out of Bucksaw Resort and Marina.

Seth Glynn and KJ Hughes cracked the code for the day as they brought the winning stringer of bass to weigh-in.  Their five fish limit locked in at 19.16 pounds.  Included in their bag was the Impel Union big bass of the event, a monster 6.35 pound largemouth.  Seth and KJ noted their Albers Marine approach was to keep a crankbait wet, although their kicker fell to a jig.

The veteran Stockton team of Jim Davidson and Mike Ashbacher relied on their years of experience to take runner-up honors.  Jim and Mike dropped a 17.30 limit on the scales.  They combined a spinnerbait with a jerkbait to catch their fish, including the second place big bass of 5.51 pounds that nipped a jerkbait.

Keith Hurd and Jeff Nelson were close behind with a 17.03 limit.  They also leaned on the jerkbait bite to boat their fish.  They added to their take home pay by taking Top Skeeter honors.  They put their fish in Keith’s 2021 ZXR20 Skeeter bass boat.

Special thanks to Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet, Buick & GMC for sponsoring the release boat!
