Hendrix and Zumwalt Start division Championship defense with win!
Team Kampschroeder take second spot!
Huskey and Hulsey find right bites for third!
CLARIFICATION! Before getting into the results, I wanted to inform everyone that there was an issue with the release trailer, Ronnie Seabaugh contacted me and told me that half of the fish were released at the Lick Creek gravel ramp off Highway J, and the remainder were released from the BB ramp as announced at the weigh-in. Now on with the results.
Targeting Pre-spawn fish in the lower to mid-lake area, Keith Hendrix and Greg Zumwalt fished spinnerbaits on main lake and secondary points no more than halfway back in the larger creek arms with wind. Pre practice clued the team in that the better quality bites came from sharper banks with deep water nearby, and the smaller bucks were shallower farther back in the creeks. Keith and Greg had only 8 keeper bites on the day but their best 5 weighed in at 19.40 pounds. Included in their bag was the Ozark Chevrolet Big Joe Bass weighing 5.82 pounds. The 154 Marine key to Success was being patent, knowing the better bites would come if they stuck with their game plan. Keith and Greg are sponsored by 154 Marine, Hpw Lures, Gene Larew, JC Auto and Truck Parts, Dyna Grow Seed, Crop Rotation Service and Jacks Harbor Marine.
Also working the Lower to mid-lake area was the second place team of David and Dustin Kampschroeder. The father son Duo fished spinnerbaits and crankbaits on secondary points from Pidgeon Roost down to the dam focusing on the points outside of spawning pockets. David and Dustin also said the bite was better early, culling through 10 keepers with their best 5 weighing 17.32 pounds. David and Dustin are sponsored by Eberlin Boats and Quality Painting Inc.
Finding themselves in the Third spot today was the team of Jason Huskey and Bryan Hulsey. The Dream Dirt Farm & Ranch Real Estate sponsored team put their heads down and pitched jigs to visible cover in 3 to 8ft. of water near spawning pockets. Jason and Bryan had most of their weight early, but made a key upgrade around 1:30.
