Quail whistling and turkeys gobbling are a sure sign the bass are headed to the bank. The 68 teams that descended on Orleans Trail Marina for the second event of the 2021 Tackle HD Joe Bass Team Trail Stockton Division season proved that to be the case as the shallow water bite was on. The shoot-out was on for daily bragging rights and qualifying points for the Tackle HD Joe Bass Invitational to be held at Bucksaw Resort and Marina this fall.
Chris Macy and Tim Lawyer came out on top with a solid five bass limit weighing 17.74 pounds. Chris reported their Tackle HD Key to Success was flipping BFE plastics to shallow brush. They added a kicker on a SPRO frog. Chris and Tim topped off their stringer with the Ozark Chevrolet Big Bass, a 5.72 largemouth.
Following up their win in the season kickoff, Robert Shackleford and Dusty Richardson took the runner up position with a 16.80 pound bag. They worked the upper stretches of the lake with brown jigs on an all day bite to catch their bag.
Mike Butcher teamed with Justin Amershek to round out the top three with a 16.61 stringer. Justin noted their fish came shallow on creature baits, with their bites coming in waves throughout the day.
Gerald McDaniel and Jeff Pascoe padded their 13th place finish with the Highest Finishing Skeeter bonus as they put 14.48 pounds of Stockton bass into the livewells of Gerald’s 2018 ZX250 Skeeter.
The third event of the Stockton Division will take place June 6th, with a 6:00am takeoff from Orleans Trail. Your patronage shows in the continued growth of the Stockton Division! With the exceptional turnout, take advantage of registering online prior to the event, otherwise, make sure to show up early to ensure the takeoff is on time.
