After a brief shower just after takeoff, the 63 teams that gathered at Ahoy’s for the second derby in the 2024 Table Rock division found mostly sunny conditions and pleasant temperatures in which to ply their trade. Recent rains brought the lake up prior to the event, but ACOE pulled water hard, leaving only a skim of water in the bushes. As such, a variety of approaches caught fish, with 48 limits brought to the scales. Even without a limit, teams scratched and clawed for every fish in order to get their names on the Window World Leaderboard while also garnering valuable qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held next fall. Dock talk proved to be accurate this time around.
Tyler Casey and Brett Williams topped the field with their 19.82 stringer. Their limit was anchored by the NAPA big bass of the day, a lunker 6.83 pounder. Tyler shared their Chompers key to success paired a Damiki rig for suspended fish with a key fish or two coming on a shakey head hopped on the bottom. Boating 8 keepers on an afternoon bite pushed Tyler and Brett to the victory.
Kavan Maybee and Josh Wray wrapped up second place honors. Their best five bass weighed in at 18.39 pounds. They put 10-12 keepers in the boat fishing from the takeoff area to the James. They concentrated on pitching Senkos to bushes in the 2’-8’ range.
Hunter Stamley and Zac Oliver rounded out the top three. They worked a frog bite to boat 17.06 pounds. Understanding you “have to die with the frog in your hand”, they stuck with the pattern catching fish scattered throughout the day.
Ed Larson and Loy Galloway padded their 10th place check with the Top Skeeter honors. The duo put 15.25 pounds of Table Rock bass into Ed’s 2021 FXR20 while pitching Chompers jigs.

The next Table Rock division tournament will launch from Ahoys June 1st at 6:00 am.
Pay special attention to the top 3 places in the points race. Beginning this season all 3 will be eligible for the Tournament of Champions held in conjunction with the Invitational.
