The second event of the 2024 Stockton division launched under cool cloudy skies and weighed in under a steady rain. In between, wind, lightning, torrential rain and hail made for a soggy day. Nevertheless, the 40 teams that took off from Orleans Trail Resort & Marina dropped 29 limits on the scales, highlighting the skill of the Stockton anglers. While the heavier weights put the leaders atop the Window World Leaderboard, every fish counts for valuable qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held next fall on Table Rock Lake.
Dusty Richardson and Robert Shackleford wrangled the first place spot with their 16.93 limit. Anchored by the second place big bass of 5.07 pounds, Dusty and Robert struggled to recall whether they caught their fish on floating worms or brown jigs to boat 3 limits of bass. It’s probably a safe bet their Albers Marine, Inc. approach involved heavy line and hard hooksets!
It always helps to have a kicker fish and one could easily say Seth Glynn and KJ Hughes’ huge 7.28 NAPA big bass of the day, which accounted for nearly half of their second place weight of 14.49 pounds, was a true kicker. They noted their fish came on a wacky rig, beaver, and brushhog. Although they struggled with numbers, quality is what secured their high finish.
The Albers Marine, Inc. team of Glenn Harrison and Ryan Stuart rounded out the top three. Their five fish limit locked on at 14.22 pounds. Glenn said they flipped a jig and a Missile Baits D bomb all day. They found the fish biting, working through 4 limits to reach their final weight.
Mark and Markie Thompson added to their fourth place money as they secured the Top Skeeter honors. They boated 10 keepers throughout the day on a topwater bite along with a key fish on a spinnerbait. Their best five fish, weighing 14.16 pounds, rode to the weighin in the livewells of Markie’s 2020 ZX200 Skeeter.

Pay special attention to the top 3 places in the points race. Beginning this season all 3 will be eligible for the Tournament of Champions held in conjunction with the Invitational.
