32 teams left Mill Creek ramp under cool cloudy skies but returned to what turned into a nice spring day. Fishing was good, as 30 limits were brought to the scales. Big fish are still elusive, with only 2 bass breaking the four-pound mark. Such conditions drove parity in the results as even a three-pound kicker resulted in a jump in the standings in the 2026 Antique Division sponsored by Maybee Insurance and KGB Swimbaits. Dock talk suggested a myriad of methods were producing bites, meaning that kicker bite was crucial in moving up the Window World Leaderboard. As always, every keeper boated gleaned teams qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held this fall on Truman Lake.
Experience in dealing with finicky Table Rock bass still in the throes of a post spawn funk was crucial. Few have more experience on The Rock than Kelly Jones and Roger Satterfield. Their 16.18 bag took top honors for the day. They anchored their winning bag with the Wilson Logistics and Truck Sales big bass of the day that weighed 4.57 pounds. They noted their Maybee Insurance & KGB Swimbaits key to success was sticking with their favorite jig on a shallow bite, with keepers scattered throughout the day. Not wanting to leave any winnings on the table, Kelly and Roger took Top Skeeter honors fishing from Roger’s 2022 ZXR21 Skeeter. KGB Swimbaits has stepped up its support of the Antique Division by providing a custom swimbait to the team weighing in the largest bass of the event.
Kevin and Bryan Jackson used their history on Table Rock to bring in the second-place stringer that locked the scales at 15.23 pounds. Team Jackson had more luck with numbers, noting they boated around 15 keepers for the day, including a 4.01-pound kicker that took the runner up big bass spot. They junked fish to catch their fish, saying they used Red Fins, topwater, brush hogs, and square bills. They also noted their big fish came with less than 10 minutes before they had to head in, giving them a good last-minute push to the top of the standings.
Mike Smith teamed with Josh Wray to take third place. Their tied with the second-place team with an identical 15.23-pound limit, with their 3.76-pound big fish coming in just under the Kevin and Bryan’s four pounder for tie breaking considerations. Mike shared they leaned on a shaky head to catch 10 keepers from 10’-15’ of water. They had their final weight before noon when the cloud cover broke and their bite got tougher.
