05/19/21 Antique

With adverse weather conditions leading up to the Smith Electric/Maybee Insurance sponsored Antique Division tournament, the combination of extreme flooding and the Corps of Engineers running water kept Table Rock bass in a state of confusion as to where they should be. Once again, 36 teams of elite Joe Bass anglers came out on a rainy day to prove they could withstand the challenge. All 36 teams brought fish to the scales.

Solving the puzzle and taking top honors was the team of Josh Shirley and Don Sanders. They presented 16.56 lbs. to the scales and were anchored by Ozark Chevrolet’s Big Bass of 5.57 lbs. They reported staying shallow all day and culling through approximately 15 keepers in the upper tributaries using swim baits.

Taking 2nd place with 15.71 lbs. was the legendary team of Jack Stack and Dick Moger. They also reported catching several keepers throughout the day using top water and jerk baits to entice bites from as much as 100 feet of water in the mid-lake area.

With a very close 3rd place finish, the team of Kelly Jones and Roger Satterfield placed 15.64 lbs. on the scales. Kelly reported fishing shallow with jigs and crank baits, while Roger used an orange Johnson Beetle Spin.

Top Skeeter award went to Kelly Jones for fishing from his 2019 FX-21.

Congratulations and many thanks goes out to all Joe Bass anglers and supporting sponsors. Our next Antique event will be 6/19/21. With only 2 remaining before the Tackle HD Invitational, the race is on to see who becomes this year’s division champion.

Don’t forget our Save a Receipt drawing for $1,000 at the Tackle HD Invitational in October at Truman Lake! Check out our participating sponsors at www.Joebassteamtrail.com
