The second event of the 2024 Truman division launched with the lake up over 10’ and a strong discharge that provided options for fishing current, flooded brush/grass, or drains on the flats that tend to stack bass up during a drawdown. The 61 teams launching from Shawnee Bend sought a heavy bag that would put their names at the top of the Window World Leaderboard while striving to boat every bite as “the every fish counts” approach towards qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held next fall on Table Rock Lake was in high gear.
Gary Arterberry and Gus Adkinson topped the field on a tough day with their limit that locked the scales at 17.16 pounds. Anchored by a six pounder, Gary and Gus shared their Hobbytime Motorsports, key to success was flipping beavers, D Bombs and jigs to draw strikes.
Chase Plassmeyer teamed with Noah Dickneite to wrangle a second place finish. They found the flipping bite to their liking as well. They focused on putting brush hogs into the flooded brush to boat 17.06 pounds, narrowly missing the win.
Jordan Williams and Trevor Bartlett rounded out the top three. They brought 16.77 pounds to the scales. Staying with the trend of the trifecta, Jordan and Trevor concentrated on the shallow brush to locate their fish. Creature baits placed at the base of the bushes accounted for their day’s take.
Coty Baldwin and Kris Bollinger pocketed several checks as their 14.67 pound limit secured a 9th place overall finish. Their bag included the NAPA big bass of the day, a stout 6.39 pound largemouth. In addition, they also took Top Skeeter honors, showing it pays to run a Skeeter boat as they put their fish in Coty’s FXR21.
