05/21/22 Smithville

The 3rd stop for the Joe bass team trail on Smithville Lake division sponsored Burtons Bait and Tackle had some great light shows to start the day!!

After a small delay with lots lighting and hard storms in the area the Smithville lake teams headed out to be what most would call some of the best fishing days they had in many many years!! With a majority of the team bringing in a limit it wasn’t if you caught them it was how many did you catch and did you find any big ones. I over heard teams say they went through 20 to 30 keepers just trying to find the right ones.

First place went to the team of Dylan Sousley and Seth Carleton. They hammered the fish with a big bag coming in at 20.51lbs and also grabbing the days 1st big bass of the tournament at 5.97. Dylan had also mentioned that the teams 2nd largest fish that was close to 5lbs came at 2:52pm. They stated they fished the main lake area in 5 foot or less of water throwing brush hogs and senkos with 69 degree water temps. The Ozark Chevrolet Big Bass was caught in mid morning on a Large Brush Hog.

Coming in 2nd place was the team of Nick Hallbeck and Todd Knaack. This team is no stranger to the check line at Smithville lake. They brought in a big bag as well with 17.48lbs and 2nd big bass of the tournament at 5.82lbs. This team stated the also fished main lake area in 4 to 6 ft of water with creature baits in upper 60 degree water temps. They would like to thank Elite One Exteriors for their continued sponsorship.

Rounding out our top three in 3rd place for the day was the team of Jeff and Justin Bottorff. This team had a bag that weighed in at 16.90lbs. They went on to tell me they also fished near the main lake in 68 to 70 degree water throwing wacky rigs in shallow water then switching to glide baits and swim baits for some of the better fish that they weighed in. Jeff Stated they had a really fun day with well over 20 keepers and too many shorts to even count.

Top Skeeter of the Day went to the Team of Jeff and Justin Bottorff that earned Jeff and extra 250 dollars

Our Ozark Chevrolet Big Bass of the Day went to Dylan Sousley and Seth Carleton with a 5.97lb Large mouth!

Shoreline Stick Around 200 Dollars went to the team of Robert Carleton and Tal Mathis

Our Next Joe Bass Team Trail tournament on Smithville lake is July 16th taking off at Little Platte boat ramp from 6am to 3pm

If your in the Area Stop in and See our Division Sponsor Burton’s Bait & Tackle and save the receipt for our championship. Burtons also carries our rod sponsor in Fitzgerald Rods. So please take a look at them and maybe pick one up while you are there shopping.
