Torrential downpours occurred for the early portion of the day, the top finishers focused on the shallow bite for success. Overall, the conditions made for a good numbers day as 25 limits were brought to the scales as anglers vied for the winning bag of fish and valuable qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held Stockton Lake next fall.
Shane Mooneyham and Leslie Brandonburg, taking first place bringing a monster 18.56 sack to the scales. The Ozark Chevrolet Big Bass, a kicker 5.47 pound largemouth, anchored their limit. They noted an early bite was the Catch ‘Em All Key to Success as he slowly twitched a floating worm down by the dam to catch his winning bag.
Table Rock veterans Sam Smith and Steve Lackey secured the runner-up position with a 15.58 limit of bass. Choosing to keep a bait in the water, Sam and Steve stayed close to take-off, working a Spook followed by a shakey head to trigger their bites.
Gerald McDaniel and Jeff Pascoe rounded out the top three. Their five fish limit pushed the scales to 15.42 pounds, just short of the second place weight. They added to their third place finish by taking Top Skeeter honors. They chose to flip bushes from Gerald’s Skeeter boat.
