06/03/23 Table Rock

Warm temperatures and clear skies greeted the 46 teams that gathered at Ahoy’s to battle for top honors in the fourth event of the Table Rock Division.  With the final stats showing nearly an 11-pound average per team, anglers found the fishing to be good as the bass are transitioning to their summer haunts.  While the average weight was over 2.6 pounds, every fish still counts for qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held at Stockton Lake next fall.

As the saying goes, the cream rises to the top.  Defending division points champions Brett and Steve Rider continued their winning ways by bringing 17.47 pounds to the weigh-in scales.  The pair headed down the lake where they plied their Chompers Key to Success which was dragging big worms down deep rocky points.

Matt Fry and Michael Landwehr had a big day as they wrestled 16.92 pounds of Table Rock bass into the boat.  Their bag was anchored by the NAPA Big Bass of the day.  The 6.12 lunker succumbed to the same bait as most of their fish, a Yum Christie Craw rigged on a shaky head.  Completing a trifecta of sorts, Matt and Michael added Top Skeeter money to their winnings as they fished from their 2021 ZXR21 Skeeter.

Cole Findley and Jeff Barrickman wrapped up the top three with a solid 16.34-pound limit.  They reported fishing jigs, worms, and a glide bait to box their fish.

Special thanks to Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet, Buick & GMC in West Plains for sponsoring the live release boat.

The final event of the Table Rock Division will be September 9 with a 7:00 takeoff from Ahoy’s.
