06/09/21 Antique

There were 36 teams of the toughest Ozarks anglers who came out for the fourth Antique division tournament sponsored by Smith Electric and Maybee Insurance. With temps reaching to the low 90s, sunscreen and Gatorade were in high demand. With plenty of water in the bushes and abnormal water clarity for this time of year, most anglers went searching for those shallow bites. A few others opted to go deeper and proved Table Rock offers many options.

Flooded bushes along the shoreline enticed most anglers to pursue them for a bite. However, last year’s division champs, Eric Olliverson and Pat Leonard, chose to rely on Table Rock’s historic (June) big crankbait pattern. Probing main lake points from Kimberling City to the lower James with a 6th sense crankbait in 15-20 feet of water allowed them to cull through approximately 14 keepers to claim victory with 15.69 lbs.

The team of Josh Wray and Donald Wray followed up with a very close 15.37 lbs. bag to take over 2nd place. They reported staying on the lower end of the lake and relied on spinnerbaits, crankbaits and swimbaits and fished close to the bushes.

Third place went to the team of Jeff Epley and Kelly Greer. They also found their 15.29 lbs. of success on the lower end of the lake. They reported fishing shallow around bushes using crankbaits and spinnerbaits.

The Ozark Chevrolet  Big Bass award went to the team of Rick Jones and Jeremy Gilbert with a weight of 4.68 lbs. taken on a jig in 2 feet of water.

Top Skeeter award went to Terry Letterman for fishing from his 2020 FXR21.

As always I want to thank all the anglers for coming out and supporting Joe Bass Team Trail. Our next event will be August 25 with a 6:00 a.m. launch.
