06/11/22 Pomme

Scorching temperatures greeted the 38 teams that gathered at The Harbor for the third event of the Pomme de Terre Division sponsored by TNT Quick Shop. With the lake level getting closer to normal pool and the discharge rate slowed from the high levels over the past month, patterns transitioned from the shallow bushes to the typical summertime deep brush piles. Big fish were hard to come by but bringing fish to the weigh-in counts towards valuable qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held on Stockton Lake next fall.

Taking top honors for the day was Kelly Nunn who fished with Shane Shadrick. Their winning five fish limit came in at a stout 18.01 pounds. Kelly noted their TNT Quick Shop Keys to Success involved dragging jigs in both the Lindley and Pomme arms. They hit a variety of locations with bites coming everywhere from 2’ to 20’ deep.

Veterans Dan Cox and Tim Kastning finished just behind Kelly and Shane with a second place weight of 17.68 pounds. Sticking to their roots, Dan and Tim worked Cox Custom Worms in the river, with the bulk of their bites coming from around 5’ deep. They also added to their 2nd place prize money by taking the daily Top Skeeter honors for the second week in a row, as they fished from Dan’s SX Skeeter bass boat.

Dragging jigs and worms in the 25’ depth range in the Pomme arm earned Scott and Brandon Hill a third place finish. Their five fish limit pushed the scales to 17.48 pounds, just a tick off the runner up weight.

The Ozark Chevrolet Big Bass award went to Cody Campbell and Quinten Carr. The 5.96 pound lunker took a jig crawled 17’ down in the Pomme arm of the lake.

Special thanks to TNT Quick Shop and Pelican Inn for their outstanding support of the division as well as Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet, Buick & GMC – West Plains MO for sponsoring the Catch & Release boat.

The fourth event of the Joe Bass Pomme de Terre will take place Saturday July 23th with a 6:00 am ensure a timely takeoff. Make sure you pay your launch fee, with annual passes available at the marina.
