On our 3rd stop of the Joe Bass Team Trail, Ozarks division sponsored by Motion Fishing. The teams had a beautiful day… except at the start. When the teams arrived at Drake Harbor they got to watch a pretty light show in the sky followed by rain throughout the morning. This rain also brought in lower temps that made the 79 degree day perfect for the teams. Along with the great temps the fishing was fantastic too as almost every team weighed in a limit!!!
Our Top team for the Tournament is Anthony (Nino) Scoma and Johnny Arial with a weight of 18.06lbs. Nino stated the team focused on bigger creeks about 15 to 20 minutes from the boat ramp. The team went thru 8 keepers for the day all caught all 8 keepers came on a topwater bait as he had cloud cover for the entire day to help out that bait’s effectiveness, they fished shallow most of the day and had roughly 80 degree water temps.
Our 2nd Place team for the day is the Team of Hal Land and Brad Baze with a total weight of 17.14lbs. Hal Stated the team almost didn’t fish for the day as the storms rolled in but he was glad they decided to stick it out. Hal said they ran down to the north part of the Mid lake area fishing in roughly 75 to 80 degree water temps. they went through 9 keepers for the day and caught most of the team’s fish on 10-inch worms and Jigs. Hal and Brad would also like to say thanks to their wives for letting them go fish all of these tournaments.
Our 3rd place finisher for the day is Lawson Hibdon with a total weight of 16.66lbs. Lawson Stated he ran down to the 55 mm and on to the 38mm for his days total. He had 12 keepers on the day all coming on a Bojangles 10 inch worm in plumbug paired with a 5/16 weight. All his fish came in 6 to 15 feet of water out of brush piles in roughly 80 degree water temps! Lawson would like to Thank Bojangles for the counited sponsorship!
The NAPA Big Bass of the Day went to the team of Jim Sloan and Jeff Stout with a weight of 4.89lbs. Jeff stated they caught that monster at 2:35pm on a worm.
Our Top Skeeter of the event went to Jamie Duncan, proving it pays off to run a Skeeter boat.
The Next Motion Fishing Ozarks event is on July 16th out of Drake Harbor from 6am to 3pm.
