06/22/24 Pomme

Once again Pomme anglers were faced with a high lake level, but the June event added to the variables 36 teams faced in the form of an extremely high discharge rate, stifling heat, and the ever-present summer recreation boat crowd that was intent in churning the lake into a froth.  Nonetheless, Pomme de Terre anglers rose to the challenge and brought 20 limits to the weigh in, and due to their vigilant fish care, 100% of those fish were released back into the lake.  Although it took fish over the six pound mark to make a big bass check and get one’s name at the top of the Window World Leaderboard, every fish garnered valuable qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held this fall on Table Rock Lake.

Cody Campbell and Quinten Carr continued their dominance of the division by taking the win on a hot June day.  Their five fish limit, anchored by the 6.13 pound 2nd big bass of the event, locked the scales at 18.03 pounds.  They found the lower end of the lake to their liking as their TNT Quick Stop key to success was flipping flooded bushes on shallow banks not far from take off.  Cody and  Quinten added to their winnings taking Top Skeeter Boats  honor as they fished from Cody’s FXR21 Skeeter boat.

Colby Davidson and Ron Voet took the runner-up spot with a strong 15.96 limit.  They ran a variety of locations but focused on a swimbait to get their bites.

Scott and Brandon Hill rounded out the podium positions.  Team Hill dropped 15.89 pounds of Pomme bass on the scales, narrowly missing a second place finish.  They coupled a shallow flipping bite with cranking a Mag Draft swimbait.  They reported they had their final weight by 8:00 am.

Kelly Jones and Roger Satterfield wrangled the NAPA  big bass of the day, a 6.31 giant.  The big fish pushed them to a 4th place overall finish.

David and Ryan Fritz took the Pomme de Rita’s “First out of the Money” award with their 11.05 pound showing for the day.

Special thanks to Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet, Buick & GMC for sponsoring the release boat!

The next Pomme de Terre tournament will launch at 6:00 Saturday July 20.

Pay special attention to the top 3 places in the points race. Beginning this season all 3 will be eligible for the Tournament of Champions held in conjunction with the Invitational.
