A break in the high heat and humidity was welcomed by the 64 teams fishing the 1st tournament of summer. The lake was busy with summertime boaters and jet skis but the Joe Bass anglers managed 36 limits out of the 64 teams. All teams returned safely.
Gunter & Williams win $8800.00!
Matt Gunter and Bobby Williams weighed in an impressive 5 bass limit weighing 19.68lbs anchored by the tournaments 2nd big bass of 5.17lbs easily taking 1st place. Matt reports catching their fish on big worms at depths of 15-20 ft. Once their limit had been caught big spoons were tried looking for even bigger fish but were unproductive. In addition to their Joe Bass winnings Matt won an additional $7000.00 from the Phoenix 1st Flight program bringing their total to $8800.00
Todd Choate & Kent Whitaker manage a 5 bass limit weighing 14.86lbs caught on Chompers jigs at depths of 15-25ft with Lews rods and reels.
Mike Coker & alternate Zack Woods weigh in their best 5 at 14.73lbs for 3rd. They report fishing jigs in brush found in the Pomme arm at depths of 10ft.
1st Ozark Chevrolet Big Bass was weighed in by Jonathan Pimentel & Christopher Cross. Jonathan reports catching the toad on a crank wrapped Spro deep diver in the Pomme arm.
Josh Inman & Jeremy Wilson take the SportBoats USA Top Finishing Skeeter Owner $1000.00 incentive fishing from Josh’s 2018 ZX250.
No tickets were to be found at the launch site for the $5 fee. I appreciate all of you who attempted to pay but could not because of the lack of maintenance at the ramp.
