06/30/19 Twain

If there were Psychiatrist that would work with Bass fisherman to regain their sanity I believe they would all be dispatched to Mark Twain Lake. Mother Nature and the Corps have dealt these anglers Blow after Blow and have left most of these anglers scratching their heads in disbelief. Moans and Groans replaced the normal Pre-launch parking lot banter Sunday morning as 21 teams gathered for the 4th of 6 Mark Twain Lake Tournaments sponsored by 154 Marine.

Taking the top spot today was the team of Steve Weber and Sam Phillips. Steve and Sam started their day off Slowly on the lower portion of the lake. After a few hours of fishing and only one keeper to show for it, Steve and Sam made an adjustment and started spot hopping looking for active fish. Around 10 am the team had a Flurry of bites on plastic worms and a Chatter Bait, included in the flurry was the Ozark Chevrolet Big Joe Bass weighing 7.10 pounds! Steve and Sam made an adjustment in presentation fishing crankbaits on main lake points later in the day and got three key bites including another fish over 5 pounds. Steve and Sam crushed the rest of the field weighing in 20.10 pounds! Sam also was the highest finishing Skeeter Owner fishing out of his 2011 ZX225.

Taking second Sunday was the salty team of Charlie Kunkle and Keith Williams. Charlie and Keith also started off slow, pitching Flipping Tubes to visible targets. Around noon, and only 2 keepers in the well, the team changed location and began working the same tube on main lake points with current. Charlie and Keith popped 3 Keepers in the afternoon and dropped 13.05 pounds on the scales to claim second.

Finishing in Third today was the team of Keith Hendrix and Greg Zumwalt. Keith and Greg moved around the lake looking for the cleanest Muddy water they could find. Thinking even and inch or two more visibility than the average 6 inches would make the difference. Fishing spinnerbaits and bladed jigs in less than 2 foot of water the team hit several spots on the day brining 5 fish to the scales weighing 12.58 pounds

Our next Mark Twain Lake Tournament will be July 21st Robert Allen Ramp 6am take-off
