07/20/24 Pomme

After a season that has brought a constant change in conditions, Pomme anglers were treated to an event with stable weather, stabilizing water levels, and a special treat in the form of mild temperatures.  Apparently the fish were confused with the favorable conditions as the number and quality of fish weighed were a bit off.  Nonetheless, 40 teams launched with hopes of seeing their names at the top of the Window World Leaderboard, while others braved the washing machine seas brought on by the pleasure boaters to weigh every fish and accrue valuable qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held this fall on Table Rock Lake.

Coming out on top was the team of Rick Fishback and Denny Carver.  The scales locked in at an amazing 22.54 pounds, with Rick and Denny’s five fish limit anchored by the NAPA  big bass of the day, a solid 5.80 kicker.  Rick and Denny worked several baits to amass their winning weight.  Included in their TNT Quick Stop key to success were CrankWrapped crankbaits, Apex shaky heads and a Bojangles log hog.  They focused on the 8’-12’ depth range to catch their bass.

Josh Miller and Ethen Jones had a great day with a second place finish.  They brought five fish to the scales that weighed 14.84 pounds.  Josh and Ethen braved the waves to ply a milk run of brushpiles.  They found the fishing biting a combination of jigs and worms.

Jerry Roark and Jamie Edge used their decades of experience on the potato pond to round out the top three.  They logged a final weight of 14.49, narrowly missing a second place finish.  True to form, Jerry and Jamie worked brush jogs with deep brush piles garnering their attention.

Cody Campbell and Quinten Carr continued a strong season, adding to their 6th place winnings by again taking Top Skeeter Boats  honors as they fished worms in brushpiles from Cody’s FXR21 Skeeter boat.

Rick Jones and Jeremy Gilbert took the Pomme de Rita’s “First out of the Money” award with their 11.54 pound showing for the day.

Special thanks to Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet, Buick & GMC for sponsoring the release boat!

The final Pomme de Terre tournament will launch at 6:00 Saturday August 24. This will be a no membership tournament.

Pay special attention to the top 3 places in the points race. Beginning this season all 3 will be eligible for the Tournament of Champions held in conjunction with the Invitational.
