08/07/22 Stockton

The dog days of summer are here. With temperatures near 100 degrees and the heat index even higher 56 Joe Bass teams took out to accept the challenge of finding keeper fish during the Joe Bass Team Trail Stockton Division sponsored by Albers Marine, Inc. The 1st place team of Justin Delk and Brandon Rummel, both from Everton, MO, are no strangers to these type of conditions on Stockton Lake. They used top water baits, spinner baits, square bills and jigs to land 15.57llbs of keepers. Brandon stated they ran all over the lake and fished from 30′ to 2′ of water. He stated all the water was bath tub warm.

Andre Dickniete, Freeburg, MO and Mark Dunbar, Jefferson City, MO used a more traditional summer pattern deep jigs and big worms to locate 4 fish that weighed 14.26lbs. Mark stated they stayed mid lake for their fish and a couple of chances lost at having their 5 fish limit.

Mike Butcher, Arcadia, KS and Justin Amershek, Mulberry, KS, brought in a 5 fish limit that weighed 13.63lbs earning them 3rd place. They also stated big worms and jigs in 20-30′ of water.

Keith Hurd fished out of 2021 ZXR 20 Skeeter with his partner Jeff Nelson. The team had 11.21lbs and was the Top Skeeter of the day.

The day was a shortened tournament (ended at 2pm) to keep the anglers and the fish safe from the heat. Cold water was provided by Rocky Carden. The next Joe Bass at Stockton is on 9/11 with a 7am takeoff.

Don’t forget the 2022 invitational is at Stockton and Orleans Trail Marina and Resort is the official Joe Bass Headquarters for the event October 14-16, 2022.
