08/25/21 Antique

With the mercury pushing 100 degrees on the final event of the Tackle HD Table Rock Antique Division, the dog days of summer did not keep these old Ozarks hounds on the porch. Persistence and dedication from Joe Bass Team Trail anglers proved Table Rock lake is a great fishery, even when the heat is on.

The veteran team of Jim Dopp and Harlin Husky relied on years of Table Rock experience, knowing just where to find quality largemouth in late August. Focusing on steeper main lake banks in the Kimberling City area and using big worms, they brought five fish to the scales weighing 16.38 lbs.to capture 1st place.

The team of Pat Leonard and Eric Olliverson also found the big worm pattern to be successful. Fishing their way up the James River arm and concentrating on points in depths of 20 feet, they took over 2nd place with 14.92 lbs.

Third place went to division sponsors Mike Smith and Kavan Maybee with a weight of 14.61 lbs. Mike stated they stayed shallow all day, casting buzz baits and pitching to every piece of wood they could find.

Ozark Chevrolet Big Bass award went to Kelly Jones and Roger Satterfield with a 6.60 lbs. stud caught on a top water bait in a river arm. Kelly Jones also received Top Skeeter award.

Thanks to all the anglers who helped make this division a success. Look forward to seeing you at the Tackle HD Invitational.
