08/26/23 Pomme

Thanks to a front moving through, Pomme anglers were blessed with a break in the oppressive heat wave that had been blanketing the Ozarks for days leading up to the division finale.  The bass welcomed the cloud cover and intermittent showers, as it took more than 18 pounds for a podium finish.  Just as importantly, anglers sprinted to the finish line as every fish counts towards qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held at Stockton Lake this fall.

Special recognition is due Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet, Buick & GMC for their support of the release boat, a key to returning the bass to the lake in good health.

The veteran team of Roger Satterfield and Kelly Jones lapped the field with a super strong 22.35 pound limit.  Details were sparse, but it should be no surprise the pair’s prowess with a jig factored into their  TNT Quick Shop Key to Success.  Kelly and Roger anchored their bag with the second big bass of the event, a solid 6.16 pounder they caught along with their other 4 keepers on an all-day bite up the river.  Roger and Kelly padded their first place check by taking Top Skeeter honors for the event, fishing from Roger’s  2022 ZXR.

Another veteran team, Rick Fishback and Denny Carver, gave it a run as their second place bag pressed the scales to 21.18 pounds.  Included in their stringer was the NAPA Big Bass of the event, a monster 6.93 largemouth.  Reporting they struggled for bites, they made the quality count as they stared at the Garmin all day as they plied various rock piles to find their fish.

Scott and Brandon Hill finished off the division season with another top three finish.  True to form, they combined a worm and jig on a deep bite to catch their fish.  Making the most of a five fish limit, Scott and Brandon brought 18.41 pounds to the scales to secure third place.

Keep an eye on the website for official points standings for the Pomme de Terre Division sponsored TNT Quick Shop as well as preliminary dates for the 2024 season.
