08/20/17 Twain

Werle and Smith end season on high note!
Hendrix and Zumwalt finish second and win points Championship!
Embree and Asbury find check line in third.

Mother nature has decided to yoyo the weather patterns here in the month of August, fluctuating water temperatures as much as 12 degrees up and down. In addition to the weather, the Corps has began drawing Mark Twain lake down for Dam maintenance putting lake levels just over 602 elevation. These were the additional pieces of the puzzle for our Joe Bass anglers to assemble to find a limit of bass for the division finale, for some to qualify for the October Invitational at Table Rock Lake, for others a shot at the division points championship.

Taking the top spot today was the Team of Wayne Werle fishing with alternate Mike Smith. The Window World, Tri-state Trolling motor sponsored team fished Brushogs, jigs, and big worms in the upper mid-lake area. The teams best 5 fish weighed in at a net 14.08 pounds. The 154 Marine Keys to Success. Wayne stated that the team blanked in a club tournament the day before, so he and Mike scraped their plans and just went fishing.

Finishing in the second spot today was the team of Keith Hendrix and Greg Zumwalt. The J.C. Auto and Truck Parts, 154 Marine, Hpw Lures, Gene Larew, Jack’s Harbor Marine, Crop Rotation Services, and Dyna Gro Seed sponsored team fished Sencos to visible targets in the mid lake area. Their 5-fish limit came in at 13.90 pounds. The teams second place finish pushed them to the top of the division winning the points title by 3 points over the second-place team. Keith and Greg will have their Invitational entry paid for by Joe Bass and the #1 take-off position for the 2018 Mark Twain Division.

Talk about being on the right fish, the team of Dee Embree and Dan Asbury only brought 3 fish to the scales but they weighed 13.23 pounds good enough for third place and second big bass with a 4.81pound bass. Dan said they caught their fish using big worms on deep structure. Dee and Dan also get the Good Samaritan award as a fellow competitor had broken down near them so the team gave up the last hour of their fishing day to assist him to a ramp then, after weigh-in, drove his truck and trailer back to that ramp and helped load the boat!

Finding the bite, a little tough but getting the Right bite was the team of Chad and Kurt Denningmann. Fishing a jig on a main lake point the team caught the Ozark Chevrolet Big Joe Bass weighing 5.39 pounds.

I want to thank Charlie and Sonnie Kunkle of 154 Marine for being our division sponsor. Rich and Mary Yochim owners of Country Inn Resort for Host lodging Joe Bass tournaments at Mark Twain. Of course, all the Fisherman that continue to support myself and Joe Bass Team Trail at Mark Twain Lake!

Thank You for your continued support!
