With more than half of the field boating a tournament limit, fishing proved to be as good as the weather. While water temps were still high, the anglers did a fantastic job with fish care as every one of the 100 fish weighed were released to the lake via the Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet, Buick & GMC live release boat. While every team left the Port of Kimberling takeoff with hopes of finishing at the top of the Window World Leaderboard, but with the season wrapping up, every keeper provides qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held this fall on Truman Lake.
Justin and Mark Long finished the season at the top of the hill by dropping 15.67 pounds on the weigh-in scale. Team Long shared their Maybee Insurance & T-Bone Trucking key to success was targeting deep brushpiles with jigs. Justin and Mark are appreciative of the support they get from Catch ‘Em All Guide Service.
Brent Algeo and Dennis Meyer used years of experience on The Rock to take the runner-up position. Their five fish limit locked in at 15.37 pounds, just shy of the high-water mark set by the winners. Brent and Dennis spent their day flipping various cover to boat their fish. Brent and Dennis are sponsored by Caymas Boats, Lew’s, and Grunds.
James Brown teamed with Jack Cunningham to round out the top three. Their bag of fish pushed the scales to 15.31 pounds. Similar to the second place team, James and Jack focused on flipping cover with Chompers jigs to solicit bites. They added to their third place money by taking the Top Skeeter award as they fished from James’ 2020 FXR20. James and Jack enjoy the backing of Chompers, BAITWRX, Humminbird, Joe Bass Team Trail, Skeeter and Yamaha.
Tom and Dillon Statler landed the Impel Union big bass of the event, a monster 5.96 pound largemouth. The brute fell to a Chompers Flippin’ Jig. Joe Bass Team Trail greatly appreciates the support they get from Tom and Dillon through Championship Marine, the long-time Open Division sponsor.
