It seems like the 2026 season just got started, but the teams gathered once more at The Harbor for one final showdown in the Joe Bass Team Trail Pomme de Terre Division, sponsored by TNT Quick Stop.
If there was one constant throughout the Pomme season, it was change. The first four derbies threw everything from high water and storms to falling lake levels at the field, so it only seemed fitting that the finale would serve up stifling heat and a lake sitting below normal pool. Dock talk covered both ends of the lake—low water limiting access into the upper reaches of the rivers while heavy boat traffic made boat control on the main lake a challenge.
None of it changed what was at stake. This was the final opportunity to make a move on the Window World Leaderboard, grab valuable points in the division standings and secure qualification for next month’s Invitational.
Greg Askew and Terry Case opened the 2026 Pomme season with a victory, and apparently, they decided the best way to finish it was exactly how they started it—on top. Askew and Case leaned on a jig, worm and square bill for their TNT Quick Stop key to success. They came out swinging, putting two fish over four pounds in the boat during the first hour. Then Pomme made them earn the rest. It took until noon to finish their limit, but a return to their starting area late in the day proved to be the move that decided the tournament. A 5.70-pound kicker gave their bag the boost it needed and pushed them to the top of the leaderboard with an impressive 19.25 pounds.
Roger Satterfield and Kelly Jones continued what has been a remarkable 2026 campaign with a 17.78-pound runner-up finish. With multiple victories across Joe Bass divisions this season, the pair once again found themselves near the top when it mattered most. Their finish secured top honors in the Open Division, coming within a single point of a perfect season. Satterfield and Jones stayed with the jig and square bill pattern that carried them to victory last month, boating approximately 15 keepers during a steady all-day bite. The centerpiece of their bag was an absolute Pomme de Terre hammer—a 6.80-pound largemouth that earned Wilson Logistics Big Bass of the Event honors. Fittingly, the fish ate the same square bill that produced their big-bass brute during the August tournament. And they weren’t finished collecting hardware. Fishing from Roger’s 2022 ZXR21 Skeeter, the duo added another Top Skeeter award to an already outstanding season.
Jeff and Logan Welch rounded out the top three with 13.29 pounds. Known for their forward-facing sonar skills, the Welches found that technology wasn’t going to write the entire story Saturday. Their better fish came during an early topwater bite, and while they spent much of the remainder of the day looking for something bigger, they were unable to improve on the quality they caught first thing in the morning. Sometimes the lake tells you when it’s time to catch them, and Saturday morning was their window.
With the final fish weighed and the Pomme de Terre season officially in the books, David Mulkey and Tyler Weaver emerged on top of a hard-fought Pomme de Terre points race, capping a season that demanded anglers adjust to seemingly different conditions every time they launched. They will receive their entry paid into the Invitational and boat #1 in 2027.
