12/07/19 Winter

Round two of the 2020 Joe Bass Team Trails season found 23 teams assembled at Buck Creek Marina. Continued high water and changing weather conditions presented their usual challenges.  Weights would reflect this dynamic nature, but the field still managed to present 21 limits for their efforts.

Coming out on top by the narrowest of margins was Eric and Dustin Blevins.  Their five fish limit pushed the scales to 16.16 pounds.  Eric shared their Sport Boats USA Key to Success was fishing jigs, crankbaits, and an A-rig in the Lead Hill area.  They fished a variety of banks as a mechanical issue relegated them to the trolling motor for the remainder of the day.  Eric noted their gratitude to those bringing them back to the weigh-in.

Young phenoms Cody Hough and Dakota Pierce gave Team Blevins a run for their money, as they fished A-rigs off the deep end of relatively flat banks.  Their limit weighed 16.13 pounds, just a shade off the winning weight!

Third place was anchored by Cole Findly and Jeff Barrickman with a 15.22 pound bag.  Cole and Jeff concentrated on the myriad of flood bushes.  They utilized a combination of jigs and shallow crankbaits to amass their weight.

Matt Ceasar and Ed Larson wrangled the Ozark Chevrolet Big Bass of the day.  Their 6.03 pound toad hit a Chompers spinnerbait pitched to a flooded bush in a windy pocket.

Mark Thompson and Mark Thompson II proved it pays to fish a Skeeter boat as they took the Sport Boats USA Highest Finishing Skeeter award by running umbrella rigs in the mid-depths from Mark’s Sport Boats USA 2020 ZX225.

The next Bull Shoals Winter Division event will be January 4, 2020 at 7:00 a.m.  Be sure and show a bit early for breakfast burritos and coffee compliments of the crew at Buck Creek Marina!
