12/10/17 Ozarks

Surbaugh and Long Take First!
Jelineck and Slavens Finish Second!
Frank and Hagan Place Third!

38 teams assembled at Lake of the Ozarks PB2 ramp Sunday for the second of six Joe Bass team trail Bassing Bob division tournaments.
Recent weather fronts and cooler water temperatures had most of the teams anticipating a better bite that in recent weeks, with many teams reporting fish biting a-rigs, crankbaits, jigs, and spinerbaits but quality bites were still hard to come by.

Unlocking the lake of the Ozarks puzzle and taking the top spot today was the team of Skip Surbaugh and Shane Long. The team fish several moving dates including the a-rig and crankbaits but the best bites came on and E-Factor spinnerbait. Skip and Shane focused on the lower end of the glaze down to the Tollbridge chasing the wind fishing rocky banks with large chunk rock. The team caught over 20 keepers on an all day bite, with their best 5 weighing 19.71 pounds. The Bassing Bob.com keys to success was the teams long term knowledge of lake of the Ozarks and the E factor spinner bait.

After winning the November 5 Joe Bass tournament at Lake of the Ozarks, the team of Brad Jellinek and John Slavens, backed it up with a strong second place finish with a five bass limit wearing 19.62 pound included in their bag was the Ozark Chevrolet big Joe Bass weighing 7.26 pounds. Brad and John reported catching a small limit early then bouncing around Main like points in the lower end of the lake pitching jigs around docks. The team made a late day call to return to their starting spot in the afternoon, which paid off, culling twice and then catching their big fish on the last cast of the day.

Taking third today and fishing their first your bass tournament of the year was a team of James Frank and Sam Hagan. James and Sam although fishing the same area as the other top two finishers, the way they caught their fish was quite different than anyone else. Fishing Texas rigged Brushogs with a 1oz weight the duo probed brush piles in 20 to 30 feet of water to catch 17.41 pounds of bass.

Finishing with 10.12 pounds today was a team of Bill Virden and Bill Stokes. That finish earned the team the highest finishing Skeeter award fishing out of Bill’s 2017 ZX225

Our next Bassing Bob, Joe Bass tournament will be 1/7/2018 7am PB2 ramp.
