Oliver and Eynard Take Season Opener
Weast and Miles Take Second
Gain and Mueller finish Opener in Third
43 Teams showed up for the Bassingbob.com division season opener at Lake of the Ozarks. Weather was a brisk 28 degrees at take-off, but bright sunshine and a slight southerly afternoon breeze warmed the day up into the upper 50s by weigh-in.
New for the 2019 Lake of the Ozarks division is our take-off and weigh-in location of Alhonna Resort. Sheryl and her staff do a great job of accommodating Joe Bass and all the fishermen that stayed at their resort. Please consider staying at Alhonna for the upcoming Joe Bass tournaments and remember a boat slip with electric is included with your room. (573-365-2634) reservations@alhonnaresort.com
Taking the top spot today was the team of Nathan Oliver and Jamie Eynard. Nathan and Jamie left the lower end of the lake and found themselves in the Grand Glaze arm, where they stayed all day, fishing stickbaits, jigs, and the A-rig putting around a dozen keepers in the boat with the bite coming fairly shallow (4 to 8 feet deep). Around Midday the team not satisfied with their weight made a change that proved to be the Sports Boats USA Key to Success! Nathan and Jamie went a little “West Coast” throwing a Big Huddleston swimbait around docks that were on channel swing banks and caught two bass over 5 pounds culling up their final weight to 21.04 pounds! Nathan and Jamie are sponsored by Elite Angler, Merten’s Bait and Tackle, Tombstone Tackle, Bassing Bob and Omega Custom Tackle.
Taking the second spot today was the team of Jason Weast and Scott Miles. This duo took a 40-mile boat ride up lake to find their fish. Focusing on channel swings with big rock, Jason and Scott fished jigs in 2 to 10 feet of water with the fish moving shallower as the day progressed. At the end of the day Jason and Scott dropped 18.56 pounds of bass on the scales to finish second. Jason and Scott are sponsored by Fair Grove Trucking and Mercury.
Finishing in the third position today was the team of Randy Gain and Chuck Mueller. Randy and Chuck made the short run down to the dam area and found success fishing an underspin with a smoke colored speed shad attached. Randy stated that their fish were suspended over 20 to 35 feet of water with their bites coming in the 9 to 15-foot range. At the end of the day Randy and Chuck’s best five fish came in at 18.30 pounds. Included in their bag was the Ozark Chevrolet Big Joe Bass weighing 5.49 pounds.
Taking the 5th spot today but fishing out of the Right Boat was the father son team of Roger and Chase Fitzpatrick. Roger and Chase brought in 5 fish weighing 15.44 pounds to the scales and were the highest finishing Skeeter owner fishing out of Roger’s 2018 FX21 purchased from Sports Boats USA. Roger is sponsored by Skeeter Boats, Yamaha, Chompers, Diawa, Lowrance, Lunker Lure, Minn Kota, Omega Tackle, P-Line, Powerpole, Sports Boats USA, T&H Marine.
Our Next Bassingbob.com Division tournament will be February 17th at Alhonna Resort 7am take-off.
Merry Christmas to all, and your families, and may we all have Blessed New Year!
