The passage of a dangerous front had obvious adverse effects on the lives of many throughout the region, but the strong front apparently lit the afterburners on the fishing as it took over 19 pounds to crack the top five. More so, a solid 15-pound bag wouldn’t get a team into the top 25, much less towards the top of the Window World leaderboard. Seems like the season is off to a tremendous start in the Blackbeard Marine Table Rock Division.
Mike Sutherland and Chance Peebles won the shootout with a super stout 21.88-pound bag. Mike and Chance reported their Blackbeard Marine key for the day was pulling A-rigs and swimbaits over brush piles.
Justin Garner and Jacob Wade followed up their win last month with a second-place finish. Their best five bass locked the scales at 21.19 pounds. They also noted keying in on brush piles with their weapons of choice being an a-rig, jerk bait and Damiki minnow. They anchored their big sack with the Impel Union big bass of the event, a 6.96 toad that fell to a jerk bait.
Caleb Coleman and Robert Moody rounded out the top three. They dropped a five fish limit weighing 20.77 pounds on the scales. They narrowly missed big bass honors as their kicker locked in at 6.95 pounds. They also paired a Damiki-rigged minnow with an a-rig over brush piles to draw strikes.
John and Kyle Wagner landed Top Skeeter honors by putting 18.78 pounds of Ozark bass in their FXR Skeeter. They caught their fish on a mix of jerk baits, a-rigs and rock crawlers.
