04/02/22 Table Rock

Round two of the Table Rock Division sponsored by Chompers was greeted with tops-turvy weather conditions in the days leading up to the event, with warm temperatures replaced with bitter cold nights. Rain and storms worked through the area around takeoff, replaced with clearing skies and wind. All that would typically stifle the bite, but the skill level of the Ozark anglers shown through bright and clear as 45 teams launched from Ahoy’s in search of daily bragging rights and valuable qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held Stockton Lake next fall.

Taking top honors was the long-time Table Rock team of Mike and Mark Fann. Their best five bass pushed the scales to a best-of-event 18.78 pounds, almost identical to their third place weight from the first event. The Fann brothers shared their Chompers Key to Success involved working jerkbaits and umbrella rigs along steeper banks with a transition of rock size/type being critical.

Just behind the leaders was Cody Ellison and Jacob Wade. They brought 18.71 pounds to the weigh-in, narrowly missing the victory. Cody and Jacob covered water with a crawdad pattern crankbait along with fishing specific targets with a jig.

Blake Curtis and Matt Brown rounded out the top three. Their 17.82 bag was anchored by the Ozark Chevrolet Big Bass, a 6.21 lunker.

Terry Letterman and Doug Smart took home $250.00 in bonus money as they put a 12.66 pound limit in Terry’s Skeeter boat, good enough to qualify for the daily Top Skeeter honors.

Special thanks to Chompers for their outstanding support of the division. Don’t forget Catch Em All Bait & Tackle as they have offered a 10% discount for Joe Bass anglers presenting a Table Rock, Antique and Stockton weigh-in slip to the Cape Fair tackle shop. Be sure and keep your receipts for a chance at $1000 at the Joe Bass Invitational this fall at Stockton.

The third Joe Bass Table Rock derby will be Saturday May 5th with a 6:00 am takeoff from Ahoy’s. Please note the monthly takeoff time and be sure to show up early for check-in in order to ensure a timely takeoff.
