A beautiful spring day set the backdrop for the kickoff of the 2026 Stockton sponsored by Albers Marine, Inc. 35 teams left the takeoff with hopes of being at the top of the Window World Leaderboard by days end. With the fish apparently in an early post spawn funk, finding quality bites was tough, yet every keeper weighed garnered qualifying points of the Joe Bass Invitational to be held on Truman Lake’s Bucksaw Resort and Marina this fall.
Adam Proctor teamed with Terry Bradley to come out on top of a tough fishing day. Their five fish limit locked the scales at 15.52 pounds. Adam shared their Albers Marine key to success was keeping a jig and various plastics in shallow cover. They scattered their bites over several areas and pieced together the winning sack throughout the day, culling 3-4 times during the event.
Kelly Jones and Roger Satterfield continued a great spring streak by wrangling second place. They worked through 8-10 keepers fishing jigs in brush piles. Their best five keepers weighed 13.99 pounds which also landed them Top Skeeter honors for the day as they put their keepers in the LiveWell of Roger’s 2022 ZXR21 Skeeter.
Dusty Richardson and Robert Shackleford rounded out the top three finishers. Their 13.82-pound bag fell to jigs fished shallow all day. They noted they had better luck than other teams in catching keepers, guessing they boated around 20 for the day. Robert added the bite was off from what it was only a few days prior, as the numbers and quality were diminished from earlier in the week.
Danny Waite and Bryan Leonard were one spot shy of the check line in 8th place with 12.77 pounds but did boat the Wilson Logistics big bass of the event, a stout 4.88 pound largemouth. Figuring anything shy of five pounds in a spring event on Stockton wouldn’t hold up for big fish, Danny and Bryan headed home before details could be gleaned on how they put the kicker fish of the event in Danny’s Skeeter boat.
