With a prolonged drop of the lake level, anglers were curious as to how the fish would react. Based on the results of the Pomme de Terre Division event where 39 teams weighed 34 limits, the bite was on! With six fish over five pounds weighed, including two over six and a giant that clocked in at nearly eight pounds, the thought of having a good finish based on fry-guarders didn’t work out, as teams need over 15 pounds to find their names at the top of the Window World Leaderboard, while every keeper boated is good for qualifying for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held this fall on Truman Lake.
Terry Barnett and Rodney Bowersox bombed the field with a giant stringer that locked in at 24.29 pounds. Terry and Rodney shared their TNT Quick Stop key to success was mixing a jig with a DD22 crankbait on deeper mainlake drops. They noted they realized they were on the way to a big bag when they culled three fish that were over the three pound mark.
Greg Askew and Terry Case continued their hot streak with a second place finish. Their five fish limit pushed the scales to 19.30 pounds. Greg echoed they also found their fish deeper than they expected. They worked worms and jigs over channel roll offs to produce bites. Greg and Terry are sponsored by Case Works.
Troy Nogosek and Jeremy Fiedler rounded out the top three. They brought a five fish limit to the weigh-in that garnered them 17.26 pounds. They explained they had to work through over 30 keepers on an all-day bite to amass their final weight. They caught their fish on shakey heads loaded with small worms worked along mainlake points.
Danny Waite and Bryan Leonard put 14.31 pounds into Danny’s 2014 FX20 Skeeter to land the Top Skeeter award. Danny and Bryan caught the majority of their fish flipping but had several key upgrades on a crankbait.
Travis and Kerry Glenn added to their 4th place check by boating the Impel Union big bass of the day. Their 7.75 pound behemoth anchored their 15.93 pound bag.
