The second event of the 2025 Truman division launched under cloudy conditions, the remnants of an overnight storm, but finished under bright skies that would often result in a tough bite. However, the skill of the Truman anglers resulted in 54 limits from the 76-boat field. With 8 bags north of 17 pounds, teams had to have a strong day to find their names at the top of the Window World Leaderboard,. However, every keeper counts towards qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held next fall from Bucksaw Resort and Marina.
Matt Petelin and Diego Sequi topped the field with their 18.64-pound bag. Diego shared their C&C Valley Transmission key to success centered on dragging brush hogs and jigs in 8’ of water. Although several of their fish had bloody tails, Diego surmised the fish had recently left the beds and anchored on deeper cover to recover.
Justin and Matt Miller had another great finish by weighing 18.52 pounds of Truman bass. They fished jigs outside of spawning pockets to get their bites. Matt added they didn’t get a ton of good bites, as they boated 7 keepers scattered throughout the day.
Wyatt Miller and Kolin Rogers rounded out the top three. They chose to drag Carolina rigs in 10-12’ of water to catch 17.84 pounds. Wyatt noted they got off to a quick start with 4 keepers swimming in the LiveWell by 9:00 am. Their final keeper came around 1:00 p.m. to get them to their final weight.
Kevin Johnston and Roger Waters padded their 14th place check as they fished from Kevin’s 2024 ZXR20 to take Top Skeeter honors. Kevin and Roger enjoy the support of BaitWRX, Goody’s Steakburgers and Strike King Lures.
Noah Kelly and Dalton Zaremba, the Impel Union big bass of the day, a lunker 5.94 pound largemouth that bit a brush hog.
