06/08/25 Stockton

Once again weather conditions threw anglers in the Albers Marine Stockton Division a major league curveball, this time in the form of torrential rains that had the lake on a fast rise with levels at take-off 9’ above summer pool. Nonetheless, 34 teams launched from Orleans Trail Resort & Marina for the third contest of the year with hopes their name would be at the top the  Window World  Leaderboard but every fish weighed would still garner qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held next fall on Truman Lake out of Bucksaw Resort and Marina.

Rick Bowman and Jeff Moore came out on top of a super tough derby. Their five fish limit weighed 14.05 pounds. Rick and Jeff shared their Albers Marine key to success was flipping soft plastics, something the majority of the field tried. Although they boated 11 keepers on the day, the winners noted they had their final weight by 9:00 am then things dried up. They noted they covered a lot of water, but all of their fish were stacked on a 40-yard stretch of bushes that looked identical to everything else they fished!

Matt Garrett and Will Isaac stuck to their strength, fishing jigs and shaky heads on bluff end points. Their approach gave them a second-place weight of 12.19 pounds. Matt noted they had to move around a lot as another event on the lake had boats scattered throughout the lake. Will added they boated 8 keepers throughout the day to get to their final weight. Matt and Will are backed by Mutton Creek Aussies, Big E’s Baits, Fin & Feather, and Kistler Rods.

Albers Marine pro Glenn Harrison teamed with Ryan Stuart to round out the top three. Glenn shared they also flipped bushes all day and worked through several keepers to reach a final weight of 11.06 pounds. Glenn and Ryan enjoy the support of Albers Marine, Denali Rods, Lowrance, Mercury, Nitro Boats and Xtraction Lures.

Mike Johnson and Justin Angel made the most of a big bite as they took the Impel Union big bass award. Their 5.87-pound kicker also gave them top Skeeter honors as they fished from Mike’s 2021 ZXR20.

The next Stockton division tournament will launch from Orleans Trail August 3rd at 6:00 am.
