06/29/25 Mark Twain

Mark Twain Lake, Still Kicking Out Bags!

25 teams showed up to Robert E. Allen Ramp looking to end up at the top of the Window World  Leaderboard at the end of the day. The 154 Marine Sponsored division has pumped out multiple sacks over 20lbs this year. Dock talk was all about finding 5 quality bites and hope to find a kicker or two in the 5lb class.

Finishing on top today was the always Salty team of Charlie Kunkle and Keith Williams. Relying on their extensive knowledge of Mark Twain Lake, the team focused on a summer pattern of Big Worms around Big trees! The team spent most of their day on main-lake points with timber in the mid-lake to lower-end areas. Keith said their 154 Marine key to success was working that worm in 8 to 12 feet of water right up against the timber. Charlie and Keith dropped 20.36 pounds of Mark Twain Bass on the scales to take the top spot. Keith also took top finishing Skeeter honors as the team fished out of Keith’s 2024 FXR21. Charlie and Keith are sponsored by 154 Marine.

Finishing second today was the team of Dennis and Scott McFetridge. Dennis and Scott started their day fishing main-lake points. Around mid-morning, the team made an adjustment, changed locations, and found success fishing a little deeper, catching better quality fish on a Carolina-rig and a mid-depth crankbait. Dennis and Scott brought 19.16 pounds to the scales to secure their second-place finish. Included in their bag was the Impel Union Big Joe Bass weighing 5.97 pounds. The big girl fell for a Carolina rigged Magnum Lizard in Green Pumpkin.

Finishing in third today was the grandfather/grandson team of Lonnie Franklin and Kyler Benne. Lonnie and Kyler started their day fishing shallow flats, throwing a square-billed crankbait. Later in the day the team made a change to the game plan. Moving to main-lake points, the team found success with a peanut-butter and jelly colored jig and a Carolina-rig. Lonnie and Kyler brought 16.87 pounds to the scales.

George Harrington won the Rapala, Crush City, Storm, VMC and Sufix, Pro Pack turning in an empty spool of 14lb Sufix fluorocarbon.

Host lodging for Joe Bass Team Trail at Mark Twain Lake is Country Inn Resort , (573) 267-3800 Give Angela Pratt a call when making your next visit to the lake!
