09/08/24 Stockton

Host lodging Orleans Trail Resort & Marina was the location to close out the 2024 Stockton Division season. A cool start greeted the anglers, but overall the weather for the day was very tolerable with mild temperatures and light winds. Those same conditions made fishing tough as the field managed only 19 limits. Specifically, kicker fish were at a premium and a definite requirement to find one’s name atop the Window World Leaderboard. As always, every fish counts for valuable qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held next month on Table Rock Lake.

Matthew Rogers and Connor Cunningham moved up a spot from their August finish to take the win in the final divisional event for the year. Their Albers Marine, Inc. approach was to hit a ton of brushpiles, focusing on areas in clearer water in the 15’-18’ depth range. They paired a jig and worm to catch 16.87. Their key bite, the 5.93 pound NAPA  big bass of the event, came at the end of the day and provided them the push to the winner’s circle.

Local sticks Brandon and Ron Rummel used years of experience on Stockton to take second place. Their 15.98 bag fell to a combination of squarebills, buzzbaits and a worm. They found the bite stronger before noon, with the latter hours proving tough.

Jeremy Montogomery and Devin Pino rounded out the top three with a strong performance. They boated 12.41 pounds, catching their fish on a smorgasbord approach that included an early topwater bite, a jig and worm in 10’-15’ of water, and one key fish on a glide bait.

Dillon Brock and Mike Hagensicker took Top Skeeter honors. They added to their 5th place money by fishing a jig and topwater on an all-day bite from Dillon’s 2023 FXR21 Skeeter bass boat.

The Last Chance event provides teams that need another event to meet qualifications standards a chance to check the box while combining a bit of prefishing for the Invitational. This year’s tournament will take place Saturday September 21 at 7:00 am and will launch from Rock Lane Resort & Marina.

Anglers were greeted with a break from the stifling heat of the past weeks as 41 teams gathered at The Harbor in hopes of seeing their name at the top of the Window World Leaderboard at day’s end. However, with the season winding down, every fish adds to one’s qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held this fall on Truman Lake....
