Shawnee Bend continues to be the launch location to wrap up the 2025 C&C Valley Transmission Truman Division season. Clear skies early switched to overcast and rain later in the day, making for changing conditions throughout the event. With water temperatures still in the high 70’s, fish care was paramount, and the Truman anglers, along with the Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet, Buick & GMC release boat, released all 162 bass weighed in back in the lake to be caught again. Teams left the take off with two goals; find their names atop the Window World Leaderboard and ensure qualifying for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held in a few weeks out of Bucksaw Resort and Marina.
Matthew Rogers and Connor Cunningham topped the field as they brought a 18.78 pound limit to the weigh-in. They shared their C&C Valley Transmission key to success was leaning Buckeye jig and big worm to catch their fish. They caught 3 early then hit a dry spell but ended they day with 7 keepers on their way to their final weight.
Veterans of the Truman Bass wars, John Prochko and Diego Sequi wrangled the runner up position. Their catch locked the scales at 16.12 pounds. They used the 2nd place big bass of the day, a stout 4.97 largemouth, to bolster their bag. John and Diego said they caught their fish on a big of jigs and brushhogs, concentrating on secondary points in 2’-8’ of water.
Tony and Cindy Powers rounded out the podium positions with a third place finish. Cindy noted they used spinnerbaits and D-Bombs to get bit. Cindy’s 4.94 pound kicker moved them up in the standings as it gave them a 15.79 weight.
Jordan Williams and Trevor Bartlett added to their 8th place check by boating the Impel Union big bass of the day. The 5.09 pound bass bit a jig pitched to super shallow cover early in the day. Jordan and Trevor are sponsored by Expion 360 Lithium, Rugged Path Productions, and Wholesale Batteries.
Joe Bass Team Trail Pro Staff Timmy Newberry and Rusty Darnell padded their 5th place check with the Top Skeeter award. They pitched Brush Hogs to shallow wood cover to put 15.60 pounds in Timmy’s 2009 ZX225.
Thank you Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet, Buick & GMC for sponsoring the release boat!
