05/04/25 Stockton

Despite the calendar displaying May flowers, 41 teams launched from Orleans Trail Resort & Marina for the second derby of the Stockton Division with temps in the low 40’s.  Thankfully, the day turned out to be beautiful, but the post front conditions had any late spawners secluded to wherever they go under such conditions!  Teams knew they would need a kicker fish or two to find their names atop the Window World  Leaderboard but every fish weighed would still garner qualifying points for the Joe Bass Invitational to be held next fall on Truman Lake out of Bucksaw Resort and Marina.

Ron and Bill Peek took the top spot with a 14.32 pound bag.  They anchored their string with the Impel Union big bass of the event, a 4.34 pound largemouth.  Ron explained they relied on spots where he’s fished throughout the years, with their Albers Marine approach being to soak a brush hog and Bandito bug in shallow brush to catch their fish.

Reigning points champs Chris Macy and Tim Lawyer took runner-up honors.  They got away before too many details of their day could be gleaned, but through a follow up call Chris noted they kept a baby brushhog in the bushes with the 3 foot depth range being where they did the most damage, resulting in their 13.66 pound stringer.

Matt Roberts and Brian Pahl finished out the top three.  They also flipped plastic creature baits in the bushes, boating around 15 keepers on an all-day bite.  Their best five locked the scales in at 12.83 pounds.

Dan Cox and Tim Kastning padded their 8th place check by taking Top Skeeter honors.  They put 11.71 pounds of Stockton bass in Dan’s 2002 SX190 Skeeter bass boat.

Thank you Taylor Grubaugh Chevrolet, Buick & GMC for sponsoring the release boat!
